Why Change Fostering Agency?
If you are already registered as a Foster Carer with another fostering agency, and wish to transfer to an agency that gives a high level of support with a friendly service then look no further than Affinity Fostering.
You have a right to transfer to any agency you wish, so we are very pleased that you are considering Affinity Fostering.
Changing agencies could be the start of a new and exciting time for your fostering and let’s face it we all need a change sometimes, especially when it will bring increased benefits.
Just as a starter you will get membership to Foster Talk and be invited to a fabulous 2 day Foster Carer Conference (repeated each year as our Carers feedback on the event was ‘100% fantastic’) where the emphasis is on fun as well as learning. We also offer an Activity Holiday for the looked after children.
Affinity also pay a fee that is higher than most agencies but this will be discussed on application.
What service can I expect from Affinity Fostering?
Many of our Foster Carers have transferred from other agencies, seeking more quality support and looking for an agency that works together.
We have an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating and were highly praised for the support we give to our Carers and Looked After Children - Read Affinity Fostering's Outstanding Ofsted Report.

You will never feel that you are on your own.
Affinity is an agency that is run by people that truly understand the task of Fostering.
The Directors and Managers run Keeping In Touch (KIT) days in all local areas for carers to call in and share their fostering experiences over a cup of coffee and bite to eat.
This ensures that we never lose sight of what the experience of front line fostering is like.
How long will the fostering agency transfer process take and what’s involved?
Affinity is highly experienced in managing the fostering agency transfer process on your behalf.
We have had plenty of experience and it’s a real compliment to our agency that so many of our carers have transferred from different agencies. Our reputation for quality support precedes us and we work hard to maintain it.
Affinity know from experience that you will be anxious about changing, daunted by having to go through the process again, or you may be concerned about how it might affect the placement of the children in your care. (See ‘What happens to my Children’ below).
On average Affinity can complete a fostering agency transfer in two months, and our Business Manager Karen Good is brilliant at taking the strain out of this process.
We will help you with all aspects of transferring, and if you have children in place, ensure that they come with you.
All Fostering Agencies subscribe to the Fostering Network's Transfer Protocol which states:
'The transfer of carers protocol is based on the assumption that carers have the right to freedom of movement between fostering services; the principle that, in all circumstances, the welfare of any child must be paramount'.
To receive a copy of the full protocol email Karen on Karen.email@example.com It may feel daunting but remember Affinity will undertake most of the required tasks, and Karen is there to guide you step by step.
Your current fostering agency is obliged to provide a range of information as part of the transfer, including access to your current file.
This does reduce the amount of work needed before you are ready to be registered by Affinity Fostering and it will certainly be far less intrusive than your first assessment. Our promise is to make the process as painless as possible.
What happens to any foster children already in my care?
If you are looking to transfer agencies and don’t currently have children in placement, then the process is extremely straight forward.
If you do have children currently placed with you, a Protocol Meeting will be arranged early in the process to discuss the needs of the children in your care and what services Affinity needs to continue to deliver.
Affinity Fostering have proven skills in this area having liaised with many Local Authorities in protocol meetings with 100% success!
Will I receive the same fostering allowances if I transfer to another fostering agency?
Affinity has a very competitive allowance scheme and in many cases you will be financially better off moving on to our allowances and benefits.
However, if you are currently receiving a higher level of allowances or enhanced payments from your current agency, we will honour those payment levels.
Our promise to you is that you will not be financially worse off transferring to Affinity and in many cases you will be better off.
