Affinity’s Pot of Gold: Creating Memories That Last a Lifetime.

At Affinity Fostering, we believe childhood should be filled with experiences, opportunities, and happy memories. That’s why every summer we run our Pot of Gold scheme. In this special initiative, each young person connected to Affinity, whether they are children looked after, birth children, or children within fostering families, is given funding to try something new, go on an adventure, or simply make memories that will last a lifetime.

The Pot of Gold is about much more than money – it’s about broadening horizons, building confidence, and celebrating the joy of childhood. Every year, we are inspired by the creative ways children and families use this opportunity, and 2025 has been no exception.

This summer, our young people have been out making the most of their Pot of Gold in so many exciting ways – from enjoying theatre trips and fun days out, to meeting dolphins, scoring goals, and discovering new hobbies. These experiences not only bring smiles and laughter but also help to build relationships, self-esteem, and treasured family memories.

Here are just a few highlights from this year’s Pot of Gold adventures:

• Days out at theme parks and shows, sharing joy and laughter as families made new memories together.
• Incredible animal encounters, like swimming with dolphins, opening young eyes to the wider world.
• Sporting achievements, with medals, goals, and growing confidence on and off the pitch.
• Special family trips that strengthened bonds and created stories to tell for years to come.

We are so proud of our foster carers and families for embracing the spirit of the scheme and for encouraging children to explore, discover, and enjoy these moments.
