We take a day every year to focus on the amazing men who form part of our Affinity family, for fun, team bonding, and to look at the issues and concerns affecting their role as foster carers.
The role of men in foster caring is absolutely key, but we are often told that men feel overlooked, particularly single men and those who are in LGBTQ+ couples.
Communications and events can often seem tailored for women, and agencies or representatives sometimes defer automatically to a woman partner or address themselves exclusively to her.
That’s why supporting the men in our fostering family's, who do such incredible work, is so important to us at Affinity.
The day began with a “Deeper Dive into Safer Care” training session with Scott from Social Care Training Solutions. We followed this with some exhilarating quad biking action, and finished with a barbecue.
One happy guest added, “I would just like to say a big thank you to Affinity for such a fantastic day. The training was very informative, the barbecue and food excellent, and the quad biking was a great laugh - it finished off the day perfectly.”
We are always looking for strong, caring role models to form part of our fostering family. If you’re a man who is considering a career in foster care, get in touch for a friendly chat today
