It’s beginning to look a lot like an unusual Christmas

Published 30 Nov 2020

Christmas 2020 is likely to be memorable for many reasons, coming out of lockdown, a tier system, and social bubbles, mean that the chances of a ‘traditional’ blow out celebration may be somewhat restricted. But, instead of taking a glass half empty approach, it also provides an opportunity to create new traditions. It’s no surprise that sales of board games and puzzles have gone through the roof this year as families have tried to find alternative ways to entertain themselves.

For many of us who grew up in an era before the internet, streaming services, and games consoles, the run up to Christmas always felt like a month of crafting, making paper garlands, homemade Christmas cards, nativity scenes out of cornflake boxes, and lanterns out of coloured paper. With that in mind, we’ve come up with a load of crafty Christmas activities to keep everyone entertained throughout Advent. Every day we will publish a new Christmas crafting activity across our social media feeds, so you can pick something to do and maybe even start a new tradition. If you don’t already follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter make sure you do so you can keep up to date with all our news.

You’ll also need to keep your eyes peeled for the unveiling of our Christmas card competition winners and the other fabulous entries that we received. There really were some amazingly creative and thoughtful entries this year.  We are also going to be running a virtual Christmas Crafting Event!

Finally, we’ll be updating you about all the charity work we’ve done this year and Affinity’s charitable plans for next year. We’re rather excited to update you about all the things we’ve been doing to help local charities.

Even though it’s going to feel like a bit of a different Christmas this year, we hope that you all have an opportunity to enjoy the festivities, decorate your homes, and celebrate being a part of the Affinity family.
