Don’t let being a young person in care limit your ambitions!

With GCSEs and A-Levels results looming in the coming months, it can bring in to focus the worry of the future that young people feel.  For young adults in foster care, it can be felt even more keenly.  But many successful business people and celebrities have overcome difficult beginnings in the foster care system to achieve great things. Hopefully, these inspiring stories demonstrate that being in foster care does not have to limit your ambitions. With determination, resilience, and the support of caring individuals, these former foster children have built a positive life and continue to make a significant impact in various fields.

Keke Palmer, born in 1993 is an actress, singer, and television personality Keke Palmer entered foster care at a young age. Despite the difficulties she faced, Palmer's talent and determination helped her rise above her circumstances. Today, she is best known for her roles in "Akeelah and the Bee," "True Jackson, VP," and "Hustlers." Palmer also released a successful music album and has been an advocate for youth in foster care.

Simone Biles, born in 1997, is an Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast, was placed in foster care at a young age due to her mother's struggle with substance abuse. Adopted by her grandparents, Biles was encouraged to pursue her passion for gymnastics. She has since become the most decorated American gymnast in history, inspiring countless young athletes worldwide.

Ashley John-Baptiste, born in 1990, is a talented British journalist and television presenter, grew up in foster care in London. Despite facing numerous challenges, John-Baptiste remained determined to achieve his goals. He has worked for the BBC and Channel 4, reporting on important social issues, and uses his platform to give a voice to those in the care system. His personal story serves as an inspiration to many young people in foster care.

Chris Gardner, born in 1954, inspiring story is well-known in the UK. Gardner, who inspired the film "The Pursuit of Happyness," was placed in foster care as a child due to his mother's incarceration. Gardner overcame immense adversity, including homelessness, to become a successful stockbroker and motivational speaker. His story continues to inspire young people around the world, including those in the UK foster care system.

Although not a single businessperson, the Care Leavers Association is a UK-based non-profit organisation established by former care leavers to help support those who have aged out of the care system. Many of the organisation's leaders have experienced foster care themselves and have gone on to create successful businesses and careers in various fields. The Care Leavers Association serves as an excellent example of how former foster children can band together to create positive change and support one another in achieving their dreams.

Eriana Henderson, born in 1997, is a young entrepreneur who spent her early years in foster care. Despite facing numerous challenges, Henderson remained determined to achieve her goals. She went on to found The Henderson Collection, a successful online clothing store that promotes body positivity and self-love. Her story serves as an inspiration to many young people in foster care.

Lisa Williams, born in 1987, is a British entrepreneur and former foster child, overcame her challenging past to build a successful career in the world of business. Williams founded the Little Troopers Treasures app, which allows military parents to record bedtime stories for their children when they're away on deployment. Her innovative spirit and determination to make a difference have made her a symbol of hope for young people in foster care.

Anthony Trucks, born in 1983, is a former NFL player turned entrepreneur who experienced the foster care system in his early years. After retiring from professional football, Trucks founded Identity Shift Coaching, a company focused on helping individuals overcome adversity and achieve success. Jack Parsons, born in 1994, is a UK-based entrepreneur, experienced the foster care system before achieving immense success in the tech industry. James Eder, born in 1983 is a British entrepreneur who spent time in foster care, went on to create Student Beans, a popular student discount platform. Eder's journey from foster care to founding a successful tech company demonstrates that with hard work and persistence, young people in foster care can achieve their goals and make a difference in the world of technology.

Sophie Walker, born in 1992, Sophie Walker, a UK-based entrepreneur, experienced foster care before going on to create Dsposal, an online platform that helps businesses and individuals manage their waste responsibly. Walker's determination and innovative spirit have allowed her to create a successful tech business that contributes positively to the environment. Her story serves as an inspiration to many young people in foster care.
